Trans-10, cis-12 Conjugated Linoleic Acid
Conjugated linoleic acids (CLA) are a group of linoleic acid isomers having double bonds in conjugated position, i. e. the double bonds are separated by one single bond. Two of the isomers: cis-9, trans-11 (c9, t11) and trans-10, cis-12 (t10, c12) CLA, have been shown to have biologically interesting properties. The c9, t11 CLA has been reported to have anticancer, antidiabetic and anti-inflamm...
متن کاملEffect of Alkyl Substituents on the Hydrogen Catalytic Osmylation of Cis and Trans 2-Cyclohexene-Cyclohexanol
Catalytic osmylation of cis and trans 2-cyclohexene-cyclohexanol (1a) and (1b) are carried out in the presence of N-methyl morpholine-N-oxide. Under the same conditions, only the cis isomer reacted, leading to triol (3). The steric hindrance of the equatorial OH group probably prevents the trans isomer from entering into such reaction. Triol (3) was also obtained from the reduction of the d...
متن کاملThe metabolism of cis- and trans-decalin.
1. The metabolism of cis- and trans-decalin in the rabbit has been investigated. 2. Both hydrocarbons were oxidized to racemic secondary alcohols and excreted as ether glucuronides in amounts equal to about 60% of the dose administered. The principal glucuronides were isolated as triacetyl methyl esters and as sodium salts. 3. cis-Decalin gave rise mainly to (+/-)-cis-cis-2-decalol, together wi...
متن کاملTrans-cis isomerization and the blue phases.
A new class of photoactive chiral liquid crystals based on a photoactive nematic host material and a photoinactive chiral dopant was utilized to investigate the behavior of the blues phases when trans-cis isomerization is induced. While the general behavior follows what has been observed in the cholesteric phase, the sensitivity of the blue phases to external parameters causes different behavio...
متن کاملRelative stability of cis- and trans-hydrindanones.
The relative stabilities of several cis- and trans-hydrindanones were compared using both isomerization experiments and MM2 calculations. The generally believed rule that cis-hydrindanones are more stable than trans-isomers is applicable, but is not always true. This review introduces examples, mainly from studies in our laboratory, to explain these facts.
